Welcome to the KINACEPT project Website
KINACEPT is a project sponsored by the European Commission with the objective of discovering novel therapies for severe inflammatory diseases.
Our targets include:
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Cancers of Inflammatory Origin, and,
The Project Team is composed of Companies and Institutes engaged in novel drug discovery using modern structure based drug design to discover selective and well tolerated drugs.
The team is focused on so-called kinase enzymes that regulate the inflammatory cascade in body. They do this by regulating the immune system through a series of chemical reactions in which phosphate groups are attached to proteins making them more or less active.
By selectively turning down these kinase enzymes, it is potentially possible to stop destructive auto-immune reactions or to slow cancer growth.
The team is engaged in discovering new candidate drugs to inhibit specific kinase enzymes through a cooperation that brings together chemists, pharmacologists and medical doctors to design, make and test new molecules.
